Your movie never passes through Vela.

Vela stores room membership, invitations, synchronized timing, profile preferences, and chat required to run the service. It does not collect or retransmit video, provider cookies, provider credentials, microphone recordings, or camera recordings.

What the extension handles

Only after you press Connect and approve the current site, the extension looks for accessible HTML5 video in that tab. It reads the page origin plus player play/pause state, current time, playback speed, duration, and basic control capability. It sends the room code and playback state to Vela over HTTPS so the room can stay synchronized.

The extension does not read browsing history, page text, passwords, provider account cookies, or the video itself, and it does not transmit full or signed media URLs. It does not sell data, use data for advertising, or use data for credit or lending decisions.

Extension storage and access

Vela stores only the approved Vela app origin and trusted-origin preferences in Chrome local extension storage. The short-lived room connection token is kept in Chrome session storage and is removed when the tab disconnects, navigates, or closes. Site access is requested per site and can be removed at any time in Chrome extension settings.

Vela’s use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Microphone and camera

Devices activate only after your explicit action and browser permission. LiveKit carries encrypted-in-transit realtime media directly through configured WebRTC infrastructure; Vela does not record it.

Controls and deletion

Leave a room to end your room session, disconnect the extension to remove its active connection, and remove the extension to delete its local preferences. Room data follows the retention configured for the Vela service. Use the Support page for help with a deletion request.

Logs

Operational logs avoid chat bodies, full signed media URLs, tokens, cookies, microphone data, and video data. Optional error reporting is disabled until configured.
